The human brain, consisting of 86 billion neurons, is still not fully understood. Luckily, there may be a simplified model to help researchers garner a greater understanding of our brain. The honey bee, an intricate individual capable of carrying out complex cognitive tasks and communicating to the rest of the colony through dance, may serve as such a model. Adhering to the same laws regarding thresholds as neurons, honey bees make collective decisions parallel to the ways of neurons. Both a colony of bees and a cluster of neurons work as a group to efficiently act for the good of the whole.
